Eddie first drove kart at Silverstone aged 12. He spent the next three years making occasional appearances at Indoor club karting events before entering his first championship in 1997, easily winning the title.

His performance was enough to convince him to move up to the regional CBKC Senior 100CC championship at the end of the year. Eddie quickly got on the pace and scored his first victory in a non-trophy meeting at season's end.

He continued this form into 1998, dominating the opening race meetings. Unfortunately the rest of the season was blighted by both poor mechanical reliability and silly accidents (including a scary looking roll in the middle of the season, although Eddie famously crawled out from underneath and got going again before the steering snapped). He would end the year in 4th overall and the highest placed rookie.

The following year, he focussed on raising the funds to move into racing cars. After graduating from the Jim Russell Racing Scholarship, he made his debut in the Goldline Bearings Supercup, narrowly missing out on a podium on his debut and finishing 8th overall.

After nearly 3 years in the wilderness, Eddie returned to competition in 2002 in the Club100 Sprint Championship. In 2005 he switched to Endurance Racing and has scored championship victories in the Intermediate Endurance Championship and the European Clubman events.
