Lee started karting at the tender age of 8 with a kart built by his father. At the age of 14 he bought his first kart and started racing competitively, finishing 4th in a Club Championship.

Progressing up to the 100CC Kimbolton Championship with a Wright Kart saw Lee score several rookie races, which netted him 3rd in the championship before moving up to the Senior TKM Series as a works driver for Kartpro Stratus.

This move proved to be a complete disaster, however, and Lee left the team after only 3 races and switched to a Kestral chassis with modest success.

Over the years, Lee has competed in many Prokart Endurance races both indoor and outdoor. Unfortunately, a huge accident in 1999 put Lee in hospital and effectively ended his racing career.

Lee made a brief comeback in 2002 with a one-off appearance at Buckmore Park. More recently he was invited to test an MG Touring type car at Snetterton at the end of 2007. He excelled in his outing and was offered a drive but opted instead for a full season in the competitive Club100 Sprint Championship for 2008.

After a shaky start, Lee soon got on the pace and ultimately finished 3rd in the championship. He also attracted the attention of endurance teams, driving for first HB racing and team Senna before being recruited by the crack Target Racing team for 2009.
